My niece Summer will be three on the 16th of May.For her birthday I decided to build this Radio Special wagon with a little bit of a hot rod / rat-rod flair. I started out with a rusty Radio Special wagon I picked out of a scrap pile. Stripped it down to the tub and sand blasted it. I noticed though that after media blasting the bottom of the tub was so pitted it looked like Swiss cheese so I cut out the base and replaced it with a nice piece of Baltic-birch cabinet grade ply-wood sanded it down and hit it with a few coats of cherry polyurethane and then with a few more coats of high gloss clear all that is left now it to do a final wet sand and polish to make it look like glass.I masked off the rusted out side shot it with matte clear to seal in the rust and Radio Special graphic.I then shot the inside with 2001 Ford Powder Pistachio which was left over from painting a Focus.I plan on attaching the wood bottom with ten button head screws from the side. I imagine it will be plenty strong enough to support Summers 45 lbs. The wheels are some new old stock Allis Chalmers yard tractor deck wheels. Axles are made from simple 1/2 inch bolts and nickle plated acorn nuts. When I picked up the acorn nuts at ACE hardware I was going to get some fancier chrome plated acorn nuts but they wanted $6.29 a piece and for this gift it was too rich for my blood.

Not sure what to write about I wait until the last moment to write this blog as always and of course it comes out in serious piss poor quality. I got off work this morning and it was pouring down rain but it appeared to let up as I pulled in my drive. I ran to the shed and loaded up my hedge trimmers a rake and chainsaw.I drive over to my girlfriends house and in a slight drizzle pruned all of the low hanging limbs.Next on my list was the hedges these have been over grown and bothering me for awhile. I also yanked down the vines snaking their way up the side of the house and constricting themselves around the gutter.Work definitely did not go quickly as it seemed every twenty mins the sky would really start falling on me and im all for working hard and braving the elements but a heavy down pour is even enough to stop me.I won't be in class tonight seeing as my mother is seriously ill and i'll be spending the evening with her.

Warm weather approaching
I'm very excited for this warm weather that is going to be approaching spring bonfires and crisp spring mornings sound pretty nice. Easter Sunday and the Day before where so nice! I was very disappointed when I walked outside Monday and Tuesday mornings this week and it looked sunny but it was in fact cold. Sunday I got the tiller out and broke some ground tilling in some straw and fish meal.Later that day I planted forty seed potatoes and about fifty onion sets.I think I might try to plant some melons beans garlic and peppers later on.It will be nice to have a small edible garden this year composed of my most favored vege's.
